On 24 December 2020, 5:01 PM, MTNFBB which is the MTN Fibre Broad Band department sent strings of SMS to customers which I am part of.
The first message reads;
Yello! It’s a season of unlimited browsing on MTN Fibre Broadband! This holiday, enjoy unlimited browsing when you purchase a holiday bundle with only GHC 5.00. Dial *5057#, select option 6 to enjoy this offer. This offer is valid from 12am to 11:59pm on December 25, 2020. T&Cs apply.
The second and the four other same messages reads;
Yello! It’s a season of unlimited browsing on MTN Fibre Broadband! This holiday, enjoy unlimited browsing when you purchase a holiday bundle with only GHC 5.00. Dial *5057#, select option 5 to enjoy this offer. This offer is valid from 12am to 11:59pm on December 25, 2020. T&Cs apply
Somebody might ask why this is a news. When you read the first message carefully, it says.. Dial *5057# and select option 6. The second message says dial *5057# and select option 5.
The question then becomes why didn’t they correct themselves and get the correct facts before sending the SMS?
It all didn’t end there, right after the SMS when I dialed *5057#, there was no option 5 or 6. Around 11:00 PM when I dialed the code again, there was still no option 5 or 6. I have dialed the same code this morning when this offer is supposed to start and there is still no option 5 or 6.
My questions then become,
Was MTNFBB trying to deceive customers?
If it was a mistake which I know it is, why hasn’t MTN apologized yet? Is it because we the customers can’t speak for ourselves?
