Why Course Reviews Matter
Course reviews offer several benefits to students. Firstly, they enable students to decide which courses to take. By reading reviews from previous students, you can gain insights into the course content, teaching style, and workload.
Secondly, reviews help you understand what to expect from a particular course, making it easier to plan your schedule and manage your time effectively.
Finally, they can highlight potential challenges or areas of interest, allowing you to align your academic goals with the courses you choose.
How to check course Reviews
To check course reviews, it is completely free. Follow the procedure below to check the review of the course you want to register.
- Visit staticmod-dot-student-course-review.appspot.com/. You should land on a page similar to the one in the image below.
- If you are on the page, enter your course code into the search bar and hit the enter button. If you have the full course code, for instance, “econ 111”, then enter and hit the enter button. You can also enter just “econ” and hit the enter button.
- Your results will come from all universities that offer the same course. Make sure you click on the “Filter Universities” droplist and check the name of your University. For instance, I want courses for “The University of Auckland” so I checked that in the example screenshot below. Click the search button again when you are done.
- You will now have the results fully expanded for your selected university. Click on any of the courses to read the review of that course. At a glance, you can also see the star rating of the particular course as soon as you are on the results page.
- After clicking the particular course of interest, the first section right below the course title is where you will write your review in case you want to create some.
- The lower section is a never-ending genuine comment made by real students of the university. They share their views and experiences which will be of great help to potential students.
Note that this is not the only place you can check course reviews. There are a lot of websites where you can check your reviews. Some of the universities including the University Of Auckland have course review pages where you can check the reviews on the university’s website.
How to write an effective review
If you have completed a course and want to contribute to the review community, there are a few tips to keep in mind. Identify critical points and experiences that you found significant during the course.
Provide constructive criticism and suggestions, as this can help both future students and course instructors. Strive for a fair and balanced assessment, highlighting the course’s positives and negatives. Remember to be mindful of the potential impact your review may have on instructors and fellow students.
With this in mind, follow the procedure below to write your review.
Follow the earlier procedure given on how to check your course review above. Immediately you click on your course, right below the course title, you will see the review creation box. It should look similar to the one in the screenshot below.
Write the review using the guideline given above. Make sure you write your experience in an honest way so it can genuinely help someone else.
When writing your review, aim to provide helpful and informative insights. Be honest and constructive in your feedback to support course improvement. Recognize that your contribution can make a difference for future students.
