UKZN Email is the students’ email for the University of KwaZulu-Natal. There are some hidden features you must know about the email so you can utilize them.
While most people take it as just a normal email address, there are so many features about the email that makes it really amazing.
MyUKZN Email Features
The UKZN email is the email you access through the MyUKZN portal. There are so many features about this email that you must know.
For some of the features, you must use the email account to know them. But the others I will list below so go through and utilize them.
- Microsoft Premium Email
The email is a Microsoft Premium email address so you can access Microsoft premium products with the email address. Some of the products include Office 365, Skype, etc.
- Security
Microsoft provides end-to-end security for its emails. That is to say your email is 100% secure.
- 25GB Mailbox Space
You get 25GB of mailbox space. This means that you can receive over a million emails along with attachments without any problem. Unlike most mail inbox spaces that are just a few MegaBytes, forcing you to delete messages every now and then. This email gives you the opportunity to keep your messages for a very long time.
- 25GB of SkyDrive
You also get 25GB of SkyDrive storage. Most people including me prefer to use cloud storage because Pen drives can get lost easily. Cloud storages help you to keep all your files safely in the cloud and you can access them anywhere.
- Mobile Support
It is a mobile-friendly email so you can access it on any mobile phone. You can access it through a browser or any email client that supports IMAP protocol.
- Instant Messenger (IM)
Instant messaging is one of the key features we use most often. It is a way to instantly get help or seek help without necessarily calling anyone. It makes communications way easier than phone calls. The MyUKZN email has an instant messenger that helps students to communicate easily.
The above are some of the most important features of the email that will really help you. You should utilize the features most of the time to make everything easier.
UKZN Email Login
In most cases, it is very difficult accessing the email account off-campus. But do not worry. If you follow the procedure below correctly, you should not have any problem.
- To access your email, simply visit https://my.ukzn.ac.za/
- Click on the Login icon.
- Enter your student ID number in the format “[email protected]” where “XXXXXXXXXX” represents your Student Number.
- Enter your LAN password. The LAN password refers to the network password you always use to access your computers on campus.
You should be able to log into your email account successfully following the procedure above correctly.
How To Setup UKZN Email On Mobile Phone
Since most of us spend more time with our phones than our computers, it is very important to know how to access our email via phone. This is very important because an active email means you get every information first hand.
To set up your email address on phone, I recommend you use Gmail App because that one is easier to set up.
- If you already have a Gmail app with your Gmail account logged in, simply click on your name icon when you open the app.
- Click on “Add another account“
- Select “other” which is mostly the last option.
- Enter your email address in the format “[email protected]” where “xxxxxxxxxx” is your Student ID number. Make sure you click on “Manual Setup” after entering your email address
- Select “IMAP” from your next option
- Enter your LAN password
- Make sure you enter “pod51013.outlook.com” in the Server field and h
* Enter “pod51013.outlook.com” in the SMTP Server field and hit the Next button.
That is it, you should be able to access your email successfully. Since every smartphone has its own theme and UI (User Interface) looks, expect to see a different appearance from what you see in the screenshots above.
No matter the looks, always remember your Server address and SMTP Server address. The email client cannot retrieve your email without these two.
