There are many different ways to check your application status and We will be providing you with information on some of them. If you have already filed your application, follow the procedure below.
SASSA status check via the website
- The first step to checking your SASSA SRD application status is to visit the official SASSA website (www.srd.sassa.gov.za). You should land on a page similar to the one in the image below
- Scroll down the page a bit and click on the button that applies to you and you should land on a similar page to the one in the screenshot below.
- Enter your South African ID number and your phone number.
- Click on the “Send SMS” button to receive your One-Time Password (OTP).
- Enter your OTP and click on the “Submit” button.
You should have access to your account with your SASSA SRD application status displayed on the dashboard. There are other ways you can check your status.
SASSA status check via WhatsApp
WhatsApp is one of the most common social media platforms so being able to to check your SASSA status via WhatsApp is one of the most interesting options. To be able to do this, simply follow the procedure below.
- Add this number to your contacts “082 046 8553” and save it with the name “SASSA status check” or a similar name.
- Open your WhatsApp and start a new chat with the number you saved earlier.
- Type “STATUS”, add your ID number and your full name and send the message to the number.

|Pending for the Period (e.g. April)
|The reapplication has been successfully received, but verification for the period is pending.
|The client should revisit the status later in the month for an update: https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status.
|Approved for the Period (e.g. April)
|The application has been approved for the specified period.
|The client must check the payday field to determine when they will receive their funds. If no payday information is provided, payment processing is yet to occur.
|Declined for the Period (e.g. April)
|The application for the period has been declined, and the reason is provided.
|If the client believes the reason for decline is invalid, they can submit a reconsideration request through the website: https://Srd.dsd.gov.za.
